How to assemble:
A flat-roofed structure

Pole layout:

  • Using 9.84 ft (3m) poles, plant them to a minimum depth of 23.62 inches (600mm) and at center-to-center intervals as shown on the accompanying diagram. This allows a comfortable working height of 7.87 ft (2.4m).
  • Now brace and anchor all the external poles utilizing whichever of the methods illustrated you prefer, bearing in mind the importance of solid anchoring to overall stability of the structure.

  • Strain high-tensile, 0.08 inches (2.25mm) cross wire through the pre-drilled tops of each row of poles as illustrated.

Fitting the shadecloth:

(a) Lace up the shadecloth with edge wires as described earlier and lift each wired roll into position, resting it on top of the cross wires.
(b) Now attach and tension the edge wires to the end poles.
(c) Next sew one end of the shadecloth onto the crosswire, or nail it if wooden cross-members have been used. As described previously, stretch and tighten the shadecloth before sewing the other end and joining the edge wires.
(d) Bind edge wires and cross wires together wherever they intersect.

To protect the structure itself and the crop beneath it, it is recommended that all four sides be closed in with shadecloth (maximum 55% shadecloth).

Remember in windy areas to angle the sides at 45 degrees.
