How
to assemble:
A pitch-roofed structure
Pole
layout:
- Use
poles of 13.77 ft (4.20m) and 8.53 ft (2.60m) respectively,
- plant
them alternately to a minimum depth of 23.62 inches (600mm) and at center-to-center
intervals of 8.53 ft (2.60m).
- The
short poles are used on the perimeter only. Spacing of the long (13.77
ft (4.20m)) poles in the length is determined by the weight (i.e. percentage)
of the shadecloth to be used.
- If
lighter, low percentage shadecloth is to be used.
- The
poles can be spaced up to 39.37 ft (12m) apart. For the heavier, high
percentage cloth, spacing should be no more than 16.40 ft (5m).

Anchor
and tension all perimeter poles, and fix and tighten all apex, valley,
slope support and valley support wires as illustrated.
Fitting the shadecloth:
- Having
laced up the shadecloth with edge wire as previously described, lift
each roll into position and attach the edge wires to the end poles.
- Sew
one end of the cloth to the slope support wire, stretch the shadecloth
and sew the opposite end.
- On
a pitched-roof structure, the edge wires are not bound tightly together,
but are joined by 3.93 inches (100mm) gutter forming clips (made of
0.08 inch (2.25mm) high-tensile wire).
- This
gutter allows hail, in particular and other debris to fall through the
roof before its weight can damage the shadecloth.
- Bind
the edge wires and the valley support wires together wherever they intersect.
Ideally,
all four sides should be enclosed as described earlier.
